KING KONG (1933) to swat planes in HD later this year

I’m sure Merian C. Cooper would be very happy if he got wind that his cinematic masterpiece was getting the Blu-ray treatment, at least half as happy as I am about it. The original 1933 version of KING KONG will finally follow the footsteps of it’s 2005 brother and will have an HD home release brought over from Skull Island, most likely by way of boat. GATW Podcast Ep. 11: Max Pain

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m still trying to figure out why the official theme song for PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME isn’t Cher’s “If I could turn back time.” I can’t help but wonder things like this with PRINCE OF PERSIA being this weekends big summer action movie, one that just so happens to be based off a video game series. Video game movies often aren’t received very well, but they keep coming out. But can PRINCE OF PERSIA break the cycle with its high production costs and quality actors? I guess we’ll find out, but until then let’s talk the good, the bad, and the video game movie.

Hit the break for the episode and its synopsis! Continue reading “GATW Podcast Ep. 11: Max Pain”

JACK THE GIANT KILLER production delayed till February

Although I reported a couple months ago that Bryan Singer’s JACK THE GIANT KILLER would be shooting this summer, plans have unfortunately changed, and it looks like it won’t be happening until February of next year. Oftentimes a delay like this can be to fix a film that isn’t working out, but is that the case for this film? Continue reading “JACK THE GIANT KILLER production delayed till February”

Bruce Willis to escape THE TOMB for Summit?

There’s no argument that Bruce Willis is completely badass, and one of the best action stars of all time. This is probably why I get excited anytime I see his name attached to a film. Summit seems to have the same sentiment, as they have began early talks with him to star in their prison escape film THE TOMB. Continue reading “Bruce Willis to escape THE TOMB for Summit?”

Tommy Lee Jones is officially in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Tommy Lee Jones Captain America

A while back, a rumor was floating around that Tommy Lee Jones would be joining the cast of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER in the role of General Phillips, the man who trains Steve Rogers into Cap. Everyone got really excited about it, but then all the rumblings suddenly went away. Now we know that Jones will definitely be in the film, but his role is still unknown. Rachel McAdams will return in SHERLOCK HOLMES 2

Rachel McAdams Sherlock Holmes 2

At this point, very little is really known about the SHERLOCK HOLMES sequel, other than that both Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law will be returning, and that Moriarty will be the villain. Now that filming is quickly approaching, facts are starting to come out regarding the big follow-up. One of these facts is that Rachel McAdams will return, but in a much smaller capacity. Time for a 24 movie update

24 may be over as far as the TV series goes, but it’s no secret that the hit show will probably be transitioning to the big screen. Although there was a lot of initial speculation and talk when it was first announced that the show was ending, it has pretty much bottomed off since then. Now we are starting to hear rumblings about it again, which means Jack Bauer must have an itchy trigger finger.

Howard Gordon, an executive producer on 24 says that they already have a script ready to go. Gordon says:

“There is a draft that is in. No one is in a position right now to know when or what the movie will be, exactly.  Now that the TV show is over, the movie will be it’s own thing.” Continue reading “Time for a 24 movie update”

KUNG FU PANDA: THE KABOOM OF DOOM adds Van Damme

I remember watching the STREET FIGHTER movie as a kid and thinking,”Why in the hell is a Belgian actor playing an American hero?” Then the answer would come shortly after when he started kicking some major ass. Sadly, the magic of that film has worn off with age, but Jean-Claude Van Damme is just as cool as ever. Now we can expect him to pop up in the highly anticipated sequel, KUNG FU PANDA: THE KABOOM OF DOOM. Continue reading “KUNG FU PANDA: THE KABOOM OF DOOM adds Van Damme”

Blu-ray Review: INVICTUS

Blu-ray Rating: 4/5

This review will only cover the Blu-ray and its features, and not the actual film. You can check out Wilhem’s review of the film HERE.

Clint Eastwood started off his career as an actor who became one of the biggest and most prolific movie stars of all-time. Along the way he found another place that was very comfortable for him, and that was the director’s chair. Once again he proved himself to be a driving force in Hollywood, and built up his reputation as one of the most respected directors of all time. He has proven time and time again that he must have the Midas Touch, because it seems that any film he touches turns to gold. INVICTUS certainly made that same impact when it was released, and brings that same sentiment to the Blu-ray release. Continue reading “Blu-ray Review: INVICTUS”
