In other news; ANCHORMAN 2 gets some new details

It was kind of a huge bombshell when ANCHORMAN 2 was surprisingly announced a month ago. So far, details have been fairly scant, other than that the film could contain a custody battle as a part of the plot. This leads  us to believe that Christina Applegate will return for the film, although she is the one puzzle-piece yet to be addressed.

Now, thanks to director and co-writer Adam McKay, we have a few more details about the upcoming sequel.

Jaden Smith to possibly star in BOY NOBODY

Jaden Smith is probably the closest you can get to Hollywood royalty. I mean, the kid is the offspring of one of the biggest stars out there, and he is also really great at his craft. Luckily, Jaden is being recognized for his good work, and it looks like he could follow a similar critical path to that of his dad. In fact, they have a new movie coming out together called AFTER EARTH.

Although he has a big film ahead of him, he seems to already be booking a new film to further get himself out there. The film is called BOY NOBODY.

Walter to return for MUPPETS sequel but Segel won't

In THE MUPPETS big return last year, a new character was created to help bridge that emotional link to the characters, a very manly Muppet named Walter. Walter was central to the new film, and the lynchpin to its plot. He was a lot of fun, and a welcome addition to the Muppet canon.

Luckily, they aren’t done with him yet. He will definitely be showing up in the sequel film. On a sadder note, it looks like other characters from the first film will not return. Continue reading “Walter to return for MUPPETS sequel but Segel won't”

New TED photo makes this R-rated comedy look adorable

If you were unfamiliar with Seth MacFarlane’s TED, you might think that it is a family film, full of imagination and good-natured wonderment. You would also be so very wrong. TED is the complete opposite. From what the trailer shows us, it looks to be a vile, raunchy good time. Leave the kiddos at home though, for the love of God.

This new photo shows off Ted and Mark Wahlberg in their natural habitat, and gets me even more excited for the film. Continue reading “New TED photo makes this R-rated comedy look adorable”

A possible 'Arrested Development' fifth and sixth season is bailed out by Netflix

The long-gestating ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie made major headway in the past year, when it was announced that Netflix had picked up a ten episode fourth season leading up to a feature. Fans rejoiced, and have been patiently awaiting its return. Production is scheduled to commence this summer.

The New Continuity: How to handle prequels during movie marathons

STAR WARS

Prequels are a big part of mainstream cinema these days. They can give additional insight to the original film(s), or even tell the story from an entirely new perspective. Either way, they can be a really engaging part of a broader story.

Alternately, they can also cause quite a debate when planning a series marathon: Should the films be watched in chronological order based on release, or based on the story itself?

This question came up when a friend posted on her Facebook page about what order she should watch all six STAR WARS films. Should she start with the original trilogy (Episodes 3-6) or the prequel trilogy (Episodes 1-3)? Many people were championing the original films first, but the answer wasn’t that easy for me to muster. Continue reading “The New Continuity: How to handle prequels during movie marathons”

Pierre Morel to celebrate BASTILLE DAY

Pierre Morel is one of those directors whose films I can’t help but get excited for. I mean, the dude makes some of the most bad-ass films out there, like TAKEN. He gets really good performances out of his cast too, which is a really impressive feat when directing action movies.

Although we all still wish he were helming TAKEN 2, we can get excited for his next big film, BASTILLE DAY.
