Disney looking to get back into the PETER PAN game

When most people think of PETER PAN, they probably think back to Disney’s 1953 animated classic. Some people might think back to the less memorable 2003 film, but that’s another story. Either way, it seems that Hollywood is looking to remind us again about the boy who wouldn’t grow up.

While there is currently a project in the works with Channing Tatum and Billy Ray that seems to be taking a more reivisionist bent on the fairy tale, Disney is looking for its own new PETER PAN project. The studio is apparently trying to get back into the PETER PAN way of thinking, and are working on their own version of a PETER PAN prequel.

The film would be based off of a children’s book called Peter and the Starcatchers, which was written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson back in 2004. Disney seems pretty interested in making the film, but they want to make sure there is a market for it. Currently, they have a couple of theatre versions of the story being performed in New York and San Diego. The word on the play is that it is very good. Josh Radnor to direct and star in LIBERAL ARTS

Josh Radnor has it pretty good right now. His hit show How I Met Your Mother, won’t be going anywhere as CBS has picked the show up for two more seasons. To further fill up his calendar, he is finding time to direct his own features in his off-time from the show. His first feature, HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE was well received and was a part of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.

He is now set up to direct his second feature titled LIBERAL ARTS. Continue reading “Josh Radnor to direct and star in LIBERAL ARTS”

CLOVERFIELD 2 is coming slowly, but surely

Matt Reeves with Lizzy Caplan on set of CLOVERFIELD

It’s pretty surprising that we have yet to see a sequel to 2008’s CLOVERFIELD, especially after the film went on to be a huge success. It felt like the kind of film to have a quick sequel released while the iron was still hot, but instead we’ve sat idly by, waiting for some kind of update on a sequel.

Now we can rest a little easier, because we know that the minds behind the original are still interested in the universe they created, they are just taking their time. This update comes directly from the film’s director Matt Reeves, check it out after the break! Continue reading “CLOVERFIELD 2 is coming slowly, but surely”

24 movie to hit next year, according to Kiefer Sutherland

The 24 movie has been brewing for a while now, with seemingly very little progress happening. We had Billy Ray’s script that got turned down a while back, and the film has yet to have a director attached. However, hopes still seem to be very high on the project from those involved.

But has 24 already gone the way of the ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie? Kiefer Sutherland says otherwise, as he claims the film will release next year. Continue reading “24 movie to hit next year, according to Kiefer Sutherland”

Billy Bob Thornton in talks for BAD SANTA 2

Billy Bob Thornton is quite a personality. In fact, that personality is just as well known as he is for his acting career. He is known for his insanely brash nature and his wacky hijinks that he has had. That’s why his casting in 2003’s BAD SANTA was probably some of the most fitting casting calls ever to happen.

Now it looks like The Weinstein Company is pretty serious about making a sequel to the film, and has even began talks with Billy Bob about reprising his role. Continue reading “Billy Bob Thornton in talks for BAD SANTA 2”

Albert Brooks might join KNOCKED UP spin-off

Albert Brooks is the man. His filmography is long and full of greatness and variety, and he’s had one hell of a career up to this point – one that is still thriving. He is one of the comedic gods that has been entertaining us for more than four decades now.

Now he looks to be bringing that greatness to Judd Apatow’s next film, which is a spin-off to his second feature KNOCKED UP. Brooks is very close to being cast in the film, in the role of Paul Rudd’s father. It’s a role that sounds absolutely perfect for Brooks, and there would be a whole lot he can do with the role. Not to mention the promise of Brooks and Rudd playing off each other. Both are so funny, I can’t imagine how funny it will be to have them quipping together. Continue reading “Albert Brooks might join KNOCKED UP spin-off”

Jeff Tremaine set to direct REVENGE OF THE JOCKS

The JACKASS franchise is at its biggest, after being around for over ten years now. The third JACKASS film just released on DVD and Blu-ray, after having a $170 million run. The guys behind the film seem to be ready for a break. So what’s next for them?

The man who is usually behind the scenes, director Jeff Tremaine, has now got a non-JACKASS related gig lined up. Tremaine is set to direct a film called REVENGE OF THE JOCKS, the story of three men who were once jocks trying to adjust to the post-jock life in a geek controlled world. The geeks are set to be the bad guys, making the jocks’ lives more difficult. This will be the first narrative feature for Tremaine. GATW Podcast Ep. 40: Emote This

Sometimes we get an idea for an episode that seems so perfect and clever, sending us on an endless flurry of excitement. This episode was one of those ideas, only it proved to be more of a challenge than we were expecting. That idea was to do an episode on our favorite movies with emotions in the title. Unfortunately, you can only pick so many movies with “love” in the title. We pulled it off, hilarity ensued.

You can check out the episode after the break! Continue reading “GATW Podcast Ep. 40: Emote This”
