Alexandra Daddario cast as lead in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3D

Leatherface is approaching his return in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3D, which is quickly coming together as production approaches. A couple of weeks ago, we got a little bit of insight on the plot of the upcoming film, and were introduced to the female lead of the film, Heather.

There is now a face to the character, as Alexandra Daddario (PERCY JACKSON) has been cast in the role.

In the film, Heather travels to Texas to pick up an inheritance she was awarded, but finds out she shares lineage with none other than Leatherface. What a shock that must be, not exactly the thing you’d hope to pop up on ancestry.com. Joining her will be Tania Raymonde (Lost), who will play her best friend Nikki. Michael Chiklis joins PARKER as the villain

There’s no doubt that the seminal Michael Chiklis role is that of Detective Vic Mackey on The Shield, but he has been involved with many other projects over the years. Even since the conclusion of The Shield he has showed up in various projects such as EAGLE EYE and HIGH SCHOOL. Now he is looking to add another film to his post-Shield filmography.

Chiklis has officially joined the film PARKER, in which he will play the villain. PARKER will pit Chiklis against Jason Statham and will be directed by Taylor Hackford (RAY). The film is a thriller based off a series of books written by Donald E. Westlake. Jennifer Lopez is also currently in talks to play the female lead. Jason Sudeikis joins third season of "Eastbound & Down"

Jason Sudeikis, star of GOOD OLD FASHIONED ORGY

This year has been pretty big for Jason Sudeikis, aside from his job as a cast member of Saturday Night Live, he has been beefing up on his feature film work. Most recently, he co-starred in HORRIBLE BOSSES, which came out just this past Friday. Although his film career is blossoming at a very fast rate, he doesn’t seem prepared to give up on television just yet.

Sudeikis is now going to be involved with the third season of Jody Hill’s HBO series, Eastbound & Down.

For those of you who haven’t seen the show before, it follows Kenny Powers (Danny McBride), a brash, drug-abusing, ex-baseball player after he has lost the spotlight. The first season followed him as he moved back to his hometown, the second season placed him deep in Mexico. The third season will mark his return to America. Sudeikis will be playing Shane, one of Kenny’s new friends for the season. Continue reading “Jason Sudeikis joins third season of "Eastbound & Down"”

Joe Carnahan's THE GREY almost locked

Joe Carnahan has been pretty hit or miss critically since he blast onto the scene with his 2002 feature NARC. Since then, he has directed SMOKIN’ ACES and THE A-TEAM. Both films were met with polarizing opinions, however Carnahan’s filmmaking is rarely the issue. With his next film, THE GREY, he’s looking for a major redemption.

Carnahan took to his Twitter to give us some updates on how the production of THE GREY is coming along. The film is heading towards it’s final edit, which would make it “locked” and he hopes to ease the fears of those who have opposed him. He claims, “Almost locked THE GREY. It’s a monster. Haters prepare. Your hopes will be dashed.”

The film follows a group of Alaskan pipeline workers whose plane goes down, leaving them hunted by a pack of wolves living in the snowy outdoors. Carnahan seems to have a real passion toward this one, that actually could in turn have positive effects on the film. This kind of film certainly doesn’t hit the big screen all that often. His sensibilities certainly make sense for this picture. Continue reading “Joe Carnahan's THE GREY almost locked”

Abigail Spencer joins OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Abigail Spencer is moving her way up the actor food chain, and after having a stint on AMC’s hit show Mad Men, she seems to have projects lining up. Soon you’ll see her appear in the action-packed COWBOYS & ALIENS, and she also has a part in McG’s THIS MEANS WAR.

Now she is all set to join James Franco in Sam Raimi’s OZ: THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.

The film will follow Franco’s character as he finds his way to Oz by flight in a hot air balloon, where he must deal with three powerful witches. Spencer will play a woman who allows herself to be a part of Oz’s magic act while he is in Kansas. The part is likely to be small, but that stepping stone is a great early step for Spencer. New FINAL DESTINATION 5 poster hits the web

The release of FINAL DESTINATION 5 is just around the corner at this point, and surprisingly, the film doesn’t look nearly as bad as the last couple of films in the franchise war. Whether it be the lack of Nascar or the cast who seems to really be into the film, it seems like the franchise may very well might be back on the right track with this latest entry. Don’t believe me? Check out the trailer.

Now we are getting a new poster to feast our eyes on, until the film hits theaters on August 12. Check it out after the break. Continue reading “New FINAL DESTINATION 5 poster hits the web”

Upcoming "Star Trek" video game to bridge Abrams films

I’ve been an avid video game enthusiast for nearly my entire life. It started at the age of two with an NES, and since then I’ve done everything I could to get my hands on all the various gaming consoles. At this year’s E3, one of the biggest video game conventions in the world, a new Star Trek game was announced, one that would focus on co-operative gameplay.

One of the writers of the new STAR TREK franchise, Roberto Orci, has now come out to tell us a little about how it fits into the universe they are creating.

Orci tells Gamepro that the game will take place right in between the first film and its forthcoming sequel, and defends the claim that it will fit into the canon of the films. He mentions the long-held argument fans use of franchises, especially those with the fanbase and longevity of something like Star Trek, that if it doesn’t happen on screen, then it isn’t canon. To this Orci argues that “the first time where the game itself is generated by the people who are deciding canon and we generated the game to fit within canon.” It makes sense, if the game doesn’t directly contradict anything the movies do, then who’s to say it isn’t canon? Sony picks up Chris Hemsworth action pitch SHADOW RUNNER

Chris Hemsworth is very quickly becoming an A-lister, after making a small appearance in J.J. Abrams’ STAR TREK, then becoming Marvel’s resident god-superhero THOR. At this point, he is in very high demand and is ready to take on roles, as seen by his casting in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN.

Now it seems he has another action project down the pipeline, as Sony has picked up a pitch starring him, titled SHADOW RUNNER.

SHADOW RUNNER would feature Hemsworth as the lead of an operatives team who take on seemingly impossible tasks. The studio is keeping the project as under wraps as possible. We do know that it draws inspiration from an Israeli assassination team who was caught on film going after their target. Although the film is inspired from this, it will not actually be the plot of the film. Continue reading “Sony picks up Chris Hemsworth action pitch SHADOW RUNNER”
