X-MEN: FIRST CLASS sequel to start filming in January

All of us comic book fans were very anxious when X-MEN: FIRST CLASS was first announced. I mean, the third X-MEN film was quite a disappointment, and had spurned us in quite a way that we couldn’t help but be worried. Things got better every time the production teased us, but when it came to brass tacks, we needed to see the film. Luckily for us, it did not disappoint.

Being that the film ended up a success financially and critically, a sequel is being produced. The sequel in question, is now planning on starting in January.

The reason the film is starting in January, is largely due to Jennifer Lawrence who played the role of Mystique in the original film. Since the release of FIRST CLASS, she has become the star of the smash hit film HUNGER GAMES. With the sequel to the HUNGER GAMES a definite go, they had to make sure that both films could be produced. CATCHING FIRE is set to start filming around August or September, with FIRST CLASS shooting a in January.

The end of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS left some room for a sequel, and I can’t wait to see where they go from that point. Matthew Vaughn has said he would like to show the Kennedy assassination, with Magneto at the lead, which could explain the “magic bullet.” That sort of thinking is exactly why Matthew Vaughn is the perfect director for the series, and a welcome return to the sequel.
