Awesome is a pretty sufficient word to use when trying to explain Colin Farrell. His career has been very solid, and although I can think of bad movies he has been in, it is a lot more difficult to think of a bad performance. Whenever he is announced for a project, it usually garners a lot of attention and builds excitement.
Unfortunately for David Dobkin’s ARTHUR & LANCELOT, this isn’t one of those stories.
The film had been having some struggles for a while but garnered a lot of excitement when news broke that Colin Farrell was in early talks to play Lancelot. This has since fallen through due to his very busy schedule, and the amount of training the film would require. Other great casting has fallen through also, such as Gary Oldman as Merlin and James McAvoy as Arthur. But Warner Brothers has not given up hope and are hoping to get the casting done shortly.
It sounds like the film is supposed to be SHERLOCK HOLMES-ized, which seems like a pretty odd combination to me and it makes sense why they would want to go that route. It’s a popular move that could work. We’ll have to wait a while to find out, as the film is still a long way out at this point.
