In the past decade or so, I’ve found myself getting more and more into many TV series. It seems as though the period has been full of so many great dramas, especially coming from cable networks like AMC, HBO, and Showtime. It’s really caused the big networks to rethink their game and step up the quality drastically. Now NBC is giving it their best shot, and basing a series off of Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter series.
According to reports, the show has just added its leading man, Hugh Dancy.
The show is supposed to be more specifically based off ‘Red Dragon’ the first book in the series. Dancy will be playing the character Will Graham, who was previously played by William Petersen in MANHUNTER, and Edward Norton in RED DRAGON. The show will follow Graham, an FBI agent, as he enlists the help of cannibalistic psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter, without any knowledge of his inclination for the other other red meat.
Although I’ll admit, Clarice Starling is the true match to play against Lector, I think that Graham works better as a character for a series. I really like the relationship they have, and can’t wait to check out this show. It is being written and produced by Bryan Fuller, who is known and renowned for his work on Pushing Daisies, so it’s likely it could be really great.
Here’s to hoping, I know I’m anxiously waiting.
