Bill Murray ends any chance of GHOSTBUSTERS 3

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 has been a long gestating project out in the City of Angels. One week, we’ll hear that the project is definitely happening with all the cast involved, only to be followed up a week or so later with a conflicting report. Even Forrest Gump would get worn out from this ping pong match of emotions. But GHOSTBUSTERS is a series that is really important to a lot of people, including myself, and it’s almost impossible to ignore stories like these.

So this weeks big GHOSTBUSTERS news is all about why the film is not happening. Hit the break for more!

This bit comes from Dan Aykroyd himself when speaking to the Telegraph, where he states that Bill Murray is just not interested. Subsequently, this puts the film in “Suspended Animation.”

“I honestly don’t know. At this point it’s in suspended animation. The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie. He doesn’t want to be involved. He’s got six kids, houses all over America. He golfs in these tournaments where they pay him to turn up and have a laugh. He’s into this life and living it. I know we’d have a lot of fun [but] I can’t be mad at him. He’s a friend first, a colleague second. We have a deep personal relationship that transcends business and he doesn’t want to know. “

Although I completely believe all this, I’m not so sure this is actually the end of GHOSTBUSTERS 3. I have a pretty strong hunch that a week or two from now, some new story will come out that Bill has changed his mind or something of the sort. So until then, don’t get your hopes up about a third film.
