"The Transporter" television series gets its driver

Although his name isn’t quite what it used to be, Luc Besson still has an important spot in my heart for the often auteur-like style he brings to action movies. One of his creations that has the most bearing in today’s film climate is certainly THE TRANSPORTER series. Although many people have a love-hate relationship with the series, especially with the second film, it is popular enough to where it is receiving its own television series.

Now we officially have a Jason Statham replacement for the series, and the man to do it is Chris Vance. Vance was recently in the past season of Showtime’s Dexter, where he played the best friend and body guard to Dexter’s main antagonist. In that show, he got to play the tough guy role, something that is sure to help him out in The Transporter. My biggest question is if he will keep his head of hair for the show, but only time will tell that much.

They are putting quite a bit of effort into the series, doing twelve episodes with about $4 million budget per episode. It’s important that the show is made with some money behind it, as the film series is very well-known for its crazy fight sequences and car stunts. The series will be aired on Cinemax, so those of you without premium cable might have to up your plan a bit.

What do you guys think of a Transporter series with Vance in the lead?
