Back in 2009, Vincenzo Natali hit it big with audiences with his film SPLICE, a film that took the 2010 Sundance Film Festival by storm. Its odd, yet fascinating science fiction horror feel was captivating, and the performances from his very talented cast really brought the film together.
We had heard that Natali wanted his next project to be an adaptation of William Gibson’s book, Neuromancer, and now that pre-production has begun, this project will soon become a reality.
The book is known for setting up a lot of the concepts that ultimately became the Internet, and even introduced a common term that we use these days – “Cyberspace.” The film has secured sales and visual work has already began, principal photography is set to begin next year. Natali fans should get excited, as this film seems to be right in his wheelhouse.
I’m really excited to see Natali’s next film, and truly feel that NEUROMANCER is the right way to go. It is different enough of a concept to keep things fresh between his past work, yet similar enough to where it makes sense that he would be at the helm. This seems like the next logical step for his career to take, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with.
Are you guys excited to see what Natali does with NEUROMANCER?
