After he took up the mantle of Captain Kirk from William Shatner, Chris Pine quickly rocketed to the top of the emerging male lead actors list. He brought a new life to the character that Shatner had previously made famous, while making it is own and not being restrained by Shatner’s legacy. Then he snagged the role of the famous Jack Ryan character from Tom Clancy’s hit books, and now he will lead both franchises.
Now there just might be another film coming down the pipeline for Pine, Jeff Nichols’ MUD. Pine would star in the film as Mud, a fugitive who gets help from two boys in an attempt to escape. The film is said to be in the vein of STAND BY ME.
If Pine does end up taking up this role, this will help him add a little more variety to his already impressive resume.
These kinds of films always get me pretty easily, and with someone like Pine in the lead it could be something really special. Not much else is known about the film at this time. More info about the project is likely to come out soon, hopefully then we will get even more insight as to what we should expect.
