Jack Black signs up for a BAILOUT

In the past, I’ve been known to really enjoy Jack Black movies, due to both his crazy antics and his ridiculous over-the-top presence. However, the past several years have led to a slump in the quality of his productions. In fact, the last time I remember really liking him in something was 2008’s TROPIC THUNDER. The kiddies have him in the KUNG FU PANDA series, but maybe us adults can get him back with BAILOUT.

BAILOUT is an upcoming comedy to be directed by Michael Winterbottom, which follows a man who is down and just plain out of luck. He loses his job and is piled underneath a mountain of debt, and things can’t seem to get any worse. He then meets two losers at the supermarket who give him a chance to redeem himself and win back his losses.

This story makes a lot of sense for Black, and he could really do something interesting with the role. That, of course, depends on what the tone of the film will ultimately be. Is this going to be a hardcore slapstick comedy, or is it going to be more grounded in reality? We can all hope for the latter, as Black really could use a role like that. Either that or he could take another more dramatic role. KING KONG 2, anyone?
