The BILL & TED movies were a big part of my teenage years, and they practically lived in my DVD player. The rock star milieu, the slacker mentality, and of course George Carlin made those films an instant classic amongst my group of friends.
Talk of a third film has been out and about for a very long time now, with the word only getting much louder as of late. But now it is louder than ever, as according to Bill himself, the script is completed.
Alex Winter took to his Twitter to say in response to @antmaurizio:
“@antmaurizio: Bill & Ted 3, less than 6 weeks away and counting? Movie is gonna kick some ass.” > Just got the script. And now to read…”
Now that the script is reportedly completed, it all comes down to when they actually get to filming the project. Both Keanu Reeves and Winter are expected to return to their respective roles as Theodore “Ted” Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esquire.
The one aspect of the upcoming film that does make me quite sad will be the exclusion of George Carlin as Rufus, as he passed away back in 2008. Regardless, the film is definitely something for fans to be excited about, as both Reeves and Winter seem to be really stoked about making this film. It’s been a very long time coming, and soon it will be real.
