Billy Bob Thornton is quite a personality. In fact, that personality is just as well known as he is for his acting career. He is known for his insanely brash nature and his wacky hijinks that he has had. That’s why his casting in 2003’s BAD SANTA was probably some of the most fitting casting calls ever to happen.
Now it looks like The Weinstein Company is pretty serious about making a sequel to the film, and has even began talks with Billy Bob about reprising his role.
A spokesperson for The Weinstein Company is quoted as saying:
We feel that it’s a Christmas perennial for the R-rated crowd. Everyone loves the character and Billy Bob’s excited to be in talks with us.”
A sequel to BAD SANTA isn’t one that has ever crossed my mind, but it sounds like a great idea to me. BAD SANTA was a film that I successfully conned my parents into taking me to see, even though I was too young. They weren’t big fans of the film and its, well, content, but I left with favorable thoughts.
A BAD SANTA sequel couldn’t work without Billy Bob on the roster, so this news is very exciting. Currently not much else is known about the film, but hopefully they can bring back a lot of the people behind the first film.
What do you guys think about Billy Bob coming back for a sequel?
