Blake Lively to take on Carrie Bradshaw in SEX AND THE CITY prequel?

I think it’s a pretty fair assessment to say that Blake Lively has officially made it in both the film and TV realms. After taking up roles in such films as THE TOWN and the upcoming GREEN LANTERN, as well as her most famous role as Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl, we can only imagine that she will be a staple of future entertainment.

To even further substantiate this, there are rumblings that she very well could take up the mantle of Carrie Bradshaw of the ridiculously popular SEX AND THE CITY franchise in a prequel.

The prequel would follow Carrie’s teenage years as depicted in Candace Bushnell’s The Carrie Diaries, which leads us right up to Blake Lively who is seemingly obvious, yet perfect casting. Now that I’ve imagined Lively in the role, it proves quite difficult to imagine anyone else in the role.

Grazia’s insider gives us a little hint as to what we could expect:

“There are no plans to bring SJP and the other girls back together in the old format. The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and exploring Carrie’s first few months in NYC and the beginning of her relationship with an older man.”

Now, I have to note that as of right now this is still a rumor, but it is convincing enough to where it is worth mentioning. We’ll keep our eyes out for more on this as it comes out. Until then, make yourself a Cosmo and go through the series again.
