JOHN CARTER OF MARS update from Andrew Stanton

There’s a little bug going around that’s pulling some of Pixar’s biggest directors out of the animation world and placing them firmly in live-action land. First, we have THE INCREDIBLES director Brad Bird directing MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, and now we have FINDING NEMO and WALL-E director Andrew Stanton bringing JOHN CARTER OF MARS to the big screen.

Although principal photography is complete on JOHN CARTER, Stanton is now in what he is calling digital principal photography, claiming this stage will take the rest of the year.

The film is slated for release next March, so it will probably still be a while before we get a peek at the look of the film. This will be a hard wait for us who are excited, as he keeps giving us teases as to how different the film will be. He claims:

“I didn’t try to put it to look like anything else. I really tried to make it its own thing. I tried to make it a very historically accurate martian film if that makes sense.”

Whether it makes sense or not, my faith will go into Stanton’s immense talent. JOHN CARTER OF MARS seems like a very ambitions and perfect project to be his first live-action feature. I will certainly be following this film every step of the way.

What do you guys think about JOHN CARTER OF MARS thus far?
