Emile Hirsch is an actor I would watch in just about any role, because he is just that good. Even when he took up the mantle of Speed Racer in what ended up being a horrendous, yet incredibly fun adaptation, he brought a lot of enjoyment and fun to the character.
Now, after what seems like a while out of the spotlight, he is going to be taking up a role in THE MOTEL LIFE, based off a novel by Willy Vlautin. The story follows two brothers who face turmoil after one drunkenly hits a teenager on a bike with his car. They flee their motel-ridden lives in Reno to escape any sort of blame for the kid’s death.
I haven’t the slightest doubt that Hirsch will be able to gravitate this film to another level, and his casting adds a whole lot of potential to the film. He always pulls of dramatic roles really well, just look back at INTO THE WILD.
