Seth MacFarlane’s first feature-length film, TED, has been on our radar for a little while now. First there was its announcement, shortly followed by the surprising news that Mark Wahlberg might be joining the cast.
It seems they are pulling all the stops to make the movie a hit, now we are finding out how much work they really are putting into its production.
For those who don’t know, TED is the story of a man and his brash, uninhibited, Teddy Bear aptly named Ted. Ted will be a CG creation, of which MacFarlane will provide the voice. Now we are finding out that Ted won’t just be CG, but he will also be motion captured. This could give the character a lot more realism (about as much as we could get from a CG Teddy Bear), and really step up the production value of the film.
Of course, this also explains how the film has racked up a $65 million budget, but the quality is likely to pay off. The most exciting prospect of the film will be seeing what MacFarlane can do with an R-rating. Either way, the public is sure to catch on to this very silly, but clever film.
