We all remember Sly Stallone’s 1995 JUDGE DREDD film, mostly from a negative point of view. Since then, fans have been craving a newer, better, more true-to-the-comics film. A while back, we found out that would be a reality, and that Karl Urban would be donning the helmet.
Even though the film is still pretty far off, we are already getting our first shot of Urban in the role, which you can see above.
They are planning on taking this film in a much different direction than the last film, with Dredd as a faceless executor of the law. This direction is much closer to the comics than the first film, which was pretty Stallone-filled. This shot gives us a good look as what to expect.
The shot is a little darker than I would like, but at the same time you can see that they are putting a lot of care into doing this film right. From this shot, the costume looks pretty spot-on. The helmet might be a little too big, but maybe from different angles it doesn’t look that huge. Since we’ve already gotten a shot this early, I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing more images very soon.

saw the original and I loved it. I have never been a fan of the big helmet though…
