Netflix’s streaming service might genuinely be one of my favorite things ever, as the library is constantly growing more robust. Originally, the streaming service started as a little extra feature of Netflix for its subscribers, but it has grown uncontrollably since then and is now one of Netflix’s biggest offered services.
The company has recognized this, and is planning to roll out a streaming-only option to their service. Check out what Netflix CEO Reed Hastings had to say after the break!
“By every measure we are now primarily a streaming company that also offers DVD-by-mail…DVD-by-mail shipments are still growing, but streaming for us is much larger and growing much faster.”
It’s cool to see that they notice trends changing and are willing to adapt to them, that’s something that will keep Netflix around for the long haul. Their focus on the streaming library also makes it seem likely that the streaming library will continue getting great features and films, with newer stuff going to streaming.
It excites me that they are rolling out this new plan, as I will probably downgrade to it. I’ve gotten behind on my Netflix disc-watching, overlooking the copy of BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS they shipped me on Blu-ray three months ago just so I can watch more episodes of Rugrats and Intervention on their streaming service.
