This is the post that all of you have probably been waiting for, a more definite word either way on if the unmatchable Darren Aronofsky would indeed be directing the WOLVERINE sequel. Although this isn’t a press release or anything of the sort, it does come directly from the mouth of Wolvie himself, definitely confirming Aronofsky’s involvement with the film.
Hit the break to see what Hugh Jackman had to say!
While speaking with Vulture, Jackman mentioned that Aronofsky’s involvement would make this not the X-MEN movie you’d expect. He continues:
“This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It’s going to be the best one, I hope. Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different.”
This is good news, especially after the last film. Different is exactly what the series needs. When asked about how Aronofsky’s direction would fit into the film, he says:
“This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark. But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”
Well, Hugh my boy, I hope you’re right. I believe we are all inclined to agree. Aronofsky’s talent opens up the floodgate of potential for this film. We can only hope everyone behind closed doors agrees, and lets his vision flourish.
Thoughts?
