Liev Schreiber is a GOON

I know what you’re thinking, and I’m really sorry to say it, but I have to. No, GOON isn’t a sequel to THE GOONIES taking place when our heros are now adults. GOON is, howeve, a hockey film about a player trying to make it in the sport.

It looks like Liev Schreiber is set to be that player.

The character in question is Ross Reardon, a player known for dishing out lots of brutality on the ice. Schreiber is known for playing savage roles (think Sabretooth), so he seems like a really good fit for the character. There’s no doubt he can fill those shoes.

The project seems really promising, as it was co-written by Evan Goldberg and Jay Baruchel, who are two of the most up-and-coming names currently working in comedy. Baruchel has no problem bringing the funny, and it’s exciting to see him branch out into writing.

GOON is set to begin filming next week in Winnipeg.
