A little story hit the web back in April about Fox’s starchild Seth MacFarlane getting a stab at his first feature, a film called TED. Nothing much was known about the project at the time, other than the base synopsis and a few small facts.
Now we are getting some our first possible casting, and it might just be spot-on.
Mark Wahlberg is considering taking up the mantle of the main human character in the film, while MacFarlane will be voicing the CGI teddy bear he will be interacting with. The teddy bear will be very crude, we can only imagine Wahlberg would be playing the more straight-laced of the two.
The budget of the film is said to be around $65 million, a pretty hefty sum for an R-rated feature debut. Supposedly that is why the film will be released by Universal instead of Fox, even though their relationship with MacFarlane is pretty strong.
I’m hoping that the R-rating can be the real attention grabber with this project, as I’m not a fan of Family Guy in the least. At the same time, I understand why it’s humorous, and think that MacFarlane has a lot of potential. Hopefully ,the constraints of a feature will help him reign in the randomness, and really make something special.
