David O. Russell has been on-and-off the film adaptation of UNCHARTED: DRAKE’S FORTUNE, a film that seems like an odd choice for a director that usually goes for more provocative films. Regardless of that fact, he seems to be interested in making the film again, and is back on the project.
Russell will not only be directing the adaptation, he will also be writing the screenplay. This is a very interesting proposition, as it gives the film a better chance at actually being a good film. Maybe he can bring all the aspects of his past filmography that were so great into this film.
All signs are currently pointing to UNCHARTED working as a film, and now the next big hurdle will be getting the casting down. The internet seems to be almost unanimously on the Nathan Fillion-as-Drake bandwagon, which I’m inclined to agree.
Hopefully the film stays on its current route, because that could make it a really great flick.
