As disappointing that it is that Joss Whedon won’t be involved in Marvel’s film adaptation of THE RUNWAYS, considering his run on the comic might be the best it’s ever been. Regardless, it is still very exciting to see that the film is coming to fruition, as it is not one of Marvel’s tent pole books. Things must be running smoothly behind the curtains, cause we now have a start date for filming.
The film is set to begin filming March of next year in Los Angeles with casting already underway. The cast will be primarily comprised of teenagers, who will fill the shoes of the heroes.
It’ll be interesting to see the cast come to life, and it’s astounding to see Marvel take a chance on a property that isn’t necessarily one of their tent pole books. If RUNAWAYS proves to be a success, it could lead to Marvel taking even more chances with their lesser known heroes. Here’s to hoping we get a DR. STRANGE film out of this deal.
