It’s no surprise that THE EXPENDABLES turned out to be a hit film- the cast gave that away from the very beginning. Because the first one ended up successful, a sequel isn’t surprising to any stretch of the imagination. Thanks to Stallone himself, we’re already are getting some insight as to what we might get in the sequel. Apparently it was planned all along.

Apparently Sly want’s Bruce Willis to reprise the small role he had in the original film, as the main villain in the second. According to The Playlist, in an early draft of the script his character was supposed to return at the end, be arrested and promise revenge. Although it sounds like a very fitting ending, a deal couldn’t be worked out with Willis for the scene.
Now that EXPENDABLES is a surefire moneymaker, it will be a lot easier for them to get Willis back in a bigger role. As one of those people who still find Willis enthralling in more action oriented roles, I’d love to see this happen. If Willis shows up, I have a feeling that Sly could bring even more thunder to the sequel.
