Everyone is really happy and excited that THE AVENGERS is finally coming to fruition, especially comic lovers like myself. Unfortunately for us, we know very little about film, aside from casting and Joss Whedon’s direction. We’ve been patiently waiting for any little hint about the film, and we finally have some facts thanks to Whedon himself.

“It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles.”
I’m glad that they are using The Ultimates as a resource for the film, as the comic is known for being a more realistic take on The Avengers. This would fit perfectly into the film universe, and possibly keep it from getting too serious. Anyone looking for a good starting point to jump into the comics, The Ultimates is the perfect place.
While speaking on the project, Whedon also told a bit about the female characters. This is what he had to say:
“It is true that the movie is only going to have one female Avenger, but she will not be the only female character.”
Who the other female characters will be, we haven’t a clue. It could be characters from the other Marvel universe films, or it could be entirely new characters. Whoever it ends up being Whedon certainly succeeded at piquing our interest.
