John Woo wants Liam Neeson for FLYING TIGERS

Liam Neeson is an actor who could convincingly pull off any role, and wow us while he is at it. This is exactly why the prospect of him starring in John Woo’s most recent American film is one of the most interesting casting ideas in a long time. The combo couldn’t be anything less than extraordinary.

The film in question is FLYING TIGERS, a WWII film about Lieutenant General Claire Lee, who led a squadron of pilots to help in Chinese-Japanese conflict. Here’s what Woo had to say about the role:

“It’s got to be a star but it’s hard to find the right one, because at that time Chennault was almost 50 years old. Ideally, I’ve been thinking of Liam Neeson as the title actor.”

That’s a pretty good thought, I hope he gets to go with his gut. Neeson always seems to do really well in Leadership style roles.

What do you guys think about this idea? Would Neeson fit the role as well as Woo believes?
