"Safe Haven" goes to Relativity

Just a couple of days ago we let you in on the status of Nicholas Sparks’ next big project Safe Haven, which had already built up an intense bidding war before the book’s release. At the time, it was seen as pretty likely that either Disney or Warner Bros. would end up with the rights, as they have had recent Sparks films come out.

But in an all-out bidding war, sometimes the unexpected can happen.

Relativity has proven to be the victor, and is planning on self-distributing the film. Since Sparks’ work is always a pretty big hit, Relativity has already fast-tracked the project. You can also expect to see them as an active part of the marketing of the book itself.

I’d be lying if I claimed that I didn’t dig some of the movies based off his work, so there is some interest behind the project. Hopefully other guys agree with me, because this film is sure to be a hit with the ladies.
