Everyone has their favorite Spicoli moment. Whether it is something as big as a line or even as small as a puzzled gesture, his character is easily one of the most memorable things about FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH. Although it doesn’t seem like he’ll be donning the blonde Spicoli hair again anytime soon, he does have plans to play another heroic surfer in one of his next projects.
The film is a biopic of Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz, a man who quit his job as a doctor to become a full-time surfer after finding his life to be less than desirable. Although he seemed to have appreciated the lifestyle, apparently his kids didn’t get the allure. This could lead to a lot of really great material for the film.
There’s a lot of potential in this project, mainly from Sean Penn’s involvement. He always seems to do really good with dramatic roles like this, and we can’t forget that his last biopic led him to Oscar gold. There’s no doubt that Penn can bring that same talent into this project.
As long as he doesn’t spend the paycheck on hiring Van Halen to play at his birthday party, of course.
