Fox has "Glee" actors contracted for three films

It’s no secret that I’m a “Gleek,” (although I would never call myself that normally) and I tuned in for every episode of Glee, and was always anxious for my next fix. The show really caught my eye when I realized how well they blend the more dramatic aspects of the show with some really absurd comedy. Now our Glee need (Gleed?) could become a little overwhelmed as news is coming out that the cast is contracted for three films based on the series.

Apparently, when all the cast was signing onto the pilot in 2008 they also signed this three picture clause. Was Fox that ahead of the curve to where they knew this show would be a hit, or did they put it in there just in case, and got lucky?

Regardless, I’m not sure a Glee film is really necessary, especially not now, but maybe not ever. I just don’t really see what the film would be like unless it was a road movie, or one of the kids hits fame and the others tag along. That’s a little too HANNAH MONTANA for my tastes, and doesn’t really embody what Glee is. I’m not saying that a film couldn’t be good, but I’d much rather them throw their focus into the show and keep that at the level of quality it is at currently.

The good news is that it doesn’t seem like they are going to throw any of the films at us any time soon, as the second season should get to filming in the near future. Let’s just hope that if they do make film versions, they take their time instead of rushing it out at the height of all the success.
