Doug Liman’s THREE MUSKETEERS film is one that was very high on my “I’m so anxious for this movie, holy hell, I can’t wait,” list, because the once-underutilized property is very alluring to me. One of the main issues was that his MUSKETEERS film was competing against another MUSKETEERS movie being helmed by Paul W.S. Anderson.
Now it seems that Liman may have ducked out of the fray, and might be throwing his focus into another film.
That other film is ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, which is based off a novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, with a plot that sounds a lot like an action-packed, sci-fi GROUNDHOG DAY. To be more specific, a soldier is killed during the war with aliens, and he must relive that day repeatedly until he survives.
Although it is sad to think of a day without Doug Liman’s version of THE THREE MUSKETEERS, this new project sounds pretty promising. I think the concept is very interesting, and under Liman’s wonderful direction, this could be a really great movie.
