KING KONG (1933) to swat planes in HD later this year

I’m sure Merian C. Cooper would be very happy if he got wind that his cinematic masterpiece was getting the Blu-ray treatment, at least half as happy as I am about it. The original 1933 version of KING KONG will finally follow the footsteps of it’s 2005 brother and will have an HD home release brought over from Skull Island, most likely by way of boat.

This Blu-ray release will have all the same features that the very epic 2005 DVD release had, many of which were made in promotion of the 2005 remake. As a very proud owner of that set, it makes me very happy to say that it is a great one and well worth re-purchasing in Blu.

Although this HD release won’t be nearly as pretty as Peter Jackson’s version, I can’t help but gush with excitement over the idea. Then again, my love for the original film is so vast (it is one of my favorites), I would buy every release they could conceivably put out. I know that I’ll certainly be in line to pick it up upon it’s release on September 28th, will any of you guys be there?
