JACK THE GIANT KILLER production delayed till February

Although I reported a couple months ago that Bryan Singer’s JACK THE GIANT KILLER would be shooting this summer, plans have unfortunately changed, and it looks like it won’t be happening until February of next year. Oftentimes a delay like this can be to fix a film that isn’t working out, but is that the case for this film?

The answer is probably not, Singer just wants to take a little bit more time to work on the special effects. Since this film is an effects heavy film, it is very important that the effects are just right. Word is that he wants to pre-viz everything, an interesting technology that made a lot of buzz when James Cameron used it on AVATAR. Basically, all the special effects and graphics are shown through the camera, interacting with the actors.

The fact that they are going through all the work of pre-viz to make sure that the film is just right gives me even more faith in it than I have had. Bryan Singer is a very talented director, so hopefully he can win back the masses with this one. Sadly, this news means we have to wait even longer to find out.
