Tommy Lee Jones is officially in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

Tommy Lee Jones Captain America

A while back, a rumor was floating around that Tommy Lee Jones would be joining the cast of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER in the role of General Phillips, the man who trains Steve Rogers into Cap. Everyone got really excited about it, but then all the rumblings suddenly went away. Now we know that Jones will definitely be in the film, but his role is still unknown.

Hayley Atwell, the female lead in the film, spoke CAPTAIN AMERICA at the BAFTA awards:

“I have yet to meet Tommy Lee Jones…Although I think I have a scene with him, which I’m really looking forward to doing. And Samuel L. Jackson, who, I’m sure, he’s got better things to do than come and meet me for five minutes, but I’m sure I’ll get a chance to later.”

Speculation still leans toward him playing General Phillips, and that seems pretty damn likely. It seems like the perfect role for him, almost tailor made. I’m very excited to see Jones in the role, and even more excited to see the final product of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER.
