Jerry Bruckheimer goes LIGHTSPEED with Disney

I wouldn’t put it as a rule of thumb, but I generally dig movies that Jerry Bruckheimer produces. They are usually fun, action-packed adventures that help you let loose and have a good time. Of course, everyone remembers the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films that he made with Disney, and their most recent effort PRINCE OF PERSIA is looking pretty damn good. Now they’re looking to go to Space together, as Disney has bought a pitch for him to produce called LIGHTSPEED.

The film is said to follow a space racer for the EIRT (Earth Interstellar Racing Team), who will have a galaxy spanning adventure. If this movie is in the vain of the PIRATES films (just like PRINCE OF PERSIA is), then I’m sold. POTC in Space? Hell yeah!

Disney is looking to make this into a major summer tentpole, which seems like a fitting place for it. I really hope they have a lot of fun with the space aspects, and do some really creative battles around that. As for now, consider me stoked. Hopefully we get more information in the near future.
