Andy Serkis has a very interesting acting career, and has proved himself to be very diverse at his craft. Not only is he really talented, but he also is a well established motion-capture actor too. Two of his most well known motion capture roles were that of Gollum in the LORD OF THE RINGS franchise (he also provided the voice), and KING KONG in Peter Jackson’s remake. Now it seems he wants to add director to his resume and is prepping for his first feature.
Although Serkis is keeping very hush hush on the project, he did let it slip that the film would be a psychological thriller, and would be releasing next year. The film will be produced by Serkis’ brand new production company, Caveman Films, which he started with producer of BRIDGET JONES, Jonathan Cavendish.
It is really exciting to see that Serkis is progressing himself into a director, I have a strong hunch that he will do a good job. He is taking a lot on his plate these days, with BURKE & HARE coming up, not to mention he will be reprising Gollum in THE HOBBIT. We’ll keep our look out for more info on this project and pass it along as it comes.
