There might be a PAC-MAN movie? Really?

I truly understand the allure of adapting video games into movies. Look at one of this summer’s big impending blockbusters, PRINCE OF PERSIA, which looks like it could be a really fun movie. However, some video games just don’t seem like they’d be as able to adapt as well as others, which is why the idea of an Avi Arad-produced PAC-MAN movie doesn’t sit well.

The little yellow muncher is celebrating his 30th anniversary this year, which will be celebrated at this year’s E3 gaming expo. Joining Namco (creators of the game) will be Hollywood producer Avi Arad, who will be announcing a mystery project concerning the game franchise. Of course, this might not be a movie, but with Arad involved it almost seems like a sure thing.

It’s hard to imagine what a PAC-MAN movie would be like, the only conclusion I can draw would be pretty similar to the 1980’s Hannah-Barbera cartoon series. As of now, this project reeks of my skepticism. I guess we’ll understand the mystery at this year’s E3.

Just for funsies, I’m including a fan-made trailer of what a PAC-MAN movie could be like below.
