Many people may remember getting a sour taste (like a Warhead candy) from the GHOST RIDER movie. Although the film was generally disliked, it did go on to earn $230 million worldwide making a sequel very likely. Although we’ve been hearing rumblings about a GHOST RIDER sequel for a while, the updates we’re getting now are that Nicholas Cage, most likely will not be back for the sequel.
The problem is that Columbia has to get to filming before November or they very well could lose the film rights to the character. Before Marvel was a financially stable company and a part of the House of Mouse, they were forced to sell off the film rights to many of their franchises just to stay afloat. The sold off characters stay at the studios that bought them, until the studio stops producing that property.
But what does this have to do with the Cagester? As you’ve probably noticed, Cage works a lot! He’s going to be filming a third NATIONAL TREASURE this year, which could be a major time conflict. Cage has continually expressed interest in returning to Johnny Blaze, but he just might have zero time to commit.
What do you guys think about this? Do you even want a sequel to GHOST RIDER? Do you think Marvel Studios could put out a better GHOST RIDER flick?
