Now that Cap has been cast, the role of Peggy Carter in FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA is getting all the attention. The other day, the big news was that Emily Blunt was offered the role but declined. Although Blunt doesn’t want it, there are plenty of young actresses out there that do. Two of them are currently screen-testing for a second time, which means we’ll probably have our leading lady soon enough.
The two actresses in the running are Alice Eve and Hayley Atwell (THE DUCHESS); with Eve said to be running in the lead for the role of Peggy. Most likely, her lead is due to her recent role in SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that she will be in SEX AND THE CITY 2, a surefire hit movie this summer.
As Ed Norton says in our recent interview with him, Marvel listens to what we have to say on this kind of thing. If you don’t like either of these actresses in the role then speak up. Likewise, if you do like these casting choices then speak up. In the spirit of that, I would like to see Alice Eve in the role. What about you guys?
