Six episodes of "The Walking Dead" for AMC announced with rumored casting

We’ve been keeping tabs on “The Walking Dead” TV series every step of the way, starting when Frank Darabont expressed interest in adapting the comic, to when AMC officially picked it up. Official word is out from AMC, and they are going to produce six episodes to start, with Frank Darabont writing and directing the the pilot.

The news doesn’t stop there, it keeps on going roamer-style (that one was for you TWD fans). We also have some casting information to divulge. Jon Bernthal has been officially cast as Officer Shane, who is the driving factor of the first arc, and best friend to the main character Rick.

While we’re on the topic of Rick, Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Jonny Lee Miller is the front-runner for the role. Appearance wise, Miller is a perfect match for the role. Of course with the nature of the show, the real success will come from the rest of the supporting cast and their chemistry together, not just one single player.

I’m still sticking to my guns that “The Walking Dead” would have a more fitting home on a premium cable channel, such as HBO or Showtime. But at the same time, AMC puts out “Mad Men,” whose attention to detail makes it one of the best well made shows of our time. “Mad Men” has never failed at putting out some very mature content, a level of content AMC is obviously okay with. If they can achieve the same sort of success with “The Walking Dead,” we could be getting one of the best shows to ever hit our picture-boxes.
