Is THE FLASH speeding to theaters with a director?

It seems like DC comics is taking a note from the Marvel playbook by making films of their most famous properties. With news like David Goyer, co-writer of THE DARK KNIGHT, penning Superman’s next film, many are assuming they are trying to work towards a Justice League film. This news only feeds that fire, as The Flash might be the next hero to get the big-screen treatment.

IESB is reporting that Warner Bros. is wanting Greg Berlanti to direct THE FLASH in his big screen debut. He is relatively unknown, but was involved with writing GREEN LANTERN so he has experience in the universe. He has also done some directing too, but nothing really of note aside from a couple romantic comedies. The next of which is LIFE AS WE KNOW IT starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel.

The Flash is one of the few DC heroes I actually really like, and I would happily go see a FLASH movie. I am concerned about working towards a Justice League film though. My main concern is that BATMAN would feel very out of place because of the way he is portrayed in THE DARK KNIGHT. The film is so serious and dark, it might come across as silly to put him next to Superman. We’ll see though, maybe the new SUPERMAN, GREEN LANTERN, and FLASH movie will change that.
