First Superman comic book sells for $1 million

It’s relatively common for rare and iconic comic book issues to sell for a lot of money, as collectors are usually willing to pay big bank for a high quality issue. Even so, selling a comic for a million dollars is still shocking and astounding, shattering all previous records of expensive comic sales.

Action Comics #1 is consistently considered one of the most rare and sought out comics in existence. For this particular comic, it’s estimated that only around 100 copies still exist. Other copies have been sold for much less, but those were not at the same level of quality as this copy.

The copy in question has a quality rating of 8.0, which is extraordinarily high for a comic that was released in 1938. The comic is completely unrestored, which is almost unheard of for a comic with an 8.0 rating.

I’m not much of a Superman comic fan, but it is really amazing to see such value put into a comic book. I’m not sure if I’d put down the dough for a comic of ol’ Supes, but if a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15 (first appearance of Spider-Man) was in my grasp, I would get it. Would you spend a million on a this comic, or any comic for the matter?
