I grew up watching the unforgettable classic ARTHUR. The star Dudley Moore was so great in the role. Being that the original film is so important to me, many would figure that I would not want a remake to happen. That is not the case for ARTHUR though, and I was very excited when a remake with Russell Brand was announced. Russell Brand is perfect casting for the role, but it looks like the studio is aiming pretty high with the supporting roles.
According to Roger Freidman’s blog with The Hollywood Reporter, the people behind ARTHUR are desperately trying to get Meryl Streep for the role of the valet, that was famously done by John Geilgud in the original. At the time of the original, Geilgud was considered one of the best actors alive, so it makes a lot of sense for them to want the same for the remake.
I would like to have Streep in the role, I think that would be some amazing casting. I’m just not too sure she would want to do it, she seems to choose class pictures usually. Then again, she did star in MAMMA MIA!

Russell Brand has joked that he'd be happy if Liza Minelli took the role. I'm sure it'll be some young up and comer. Who knows at this point.
