Russell Brand hit Hollywood pretty hard after FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL. Since then, he has had a bestselling memoir, gotten engaged to Katy Perry, and lined up a few pretty decent-sounding films. Now he is going to add coach to his resume, in an as-yet-untitled film that sounds suspiciously like THE MIGHTY DUCKS.
Brand is set to play a soccer player (who somewhat mirrors David Beckham) who, after being arrested, must coach a local pee-wee soccer team. Hopefully, they take this one the route of the original BAD NEWS BEARS, because then this has the potential to be really awesome.
Currently, we aren’t sure when this will come out, as Brand has a plethora of other projects he hasn’t even started yet. I’d like to see this one, but I really hope they focus on the ARTHUR remake first. All the projects he has lined up should only continue to turn him into a household name.
