Comic book scribe Mark Millar has been in the public eye quite a bit in the past couple of years. Between the film adaptations of WANTED and the upcoming KICK-ASS (which has gotten a ridiculous amount of hype), he has become somewhat of a household name. Now it seems he wants to take a more direct (pun intended) connection to the general public.
Millar talked to IGN about an upcoming superhero film which he plans to direct. He claims that it is very different from the usual superhero film. Sadly, he doesn’t let out too much more about the film, but does admit that it will be filmed in Scotland this summer. He also says that he will probably take it on the festival circuit after Christmas.
He claims that the movie is not a comedy and is very straight, yet very different, than anything else from the genre. He feels that he has learned a lot from watching Matthew Vaughn adapt KICK-ASS, which seems like a good place to pick up a thing or two. If KICK-ASS turns out as well as everyone seems to expect it to, it could really put some fire under this secret project.
