D.J. Caruso will direct sci-fi movie I AM NUMBER FOUR

D.J. Caruso really broke into the mainstream when he directed the surprise hit DISTURBIA, and he hasn’t had a hard time finding a job since. He went on to direct EAGLE EYE, which had a much harder time finding a fan base. He will be making THE ART OF MAKING MONEY with Chris Pine soon, and now we know his next project.

Caruso is set to direct a film adaptation of I AM NUMBER FOUR, a young adult sci-fi book that is set to be released this fall. The book was written by the infamous James Frey (the guy whose debut novel made Oprah’s Book Club, and then was revealed to be a lie) and Joby Hughes. The screenplay was written by “Smallville” creators Al Gough and Miles Millar.

I hope this is a cool movie, because I genuinely like Caruso’s work. DISTURBIA really surprised me. Not to mention that I didn’t completely hate EAGLE EYE like everyone else did. We’ll see what comes out of this picture. Hopefully it is at least fun if it isn’t good.
