Meet the Beatles! YELLOW SUBMARINE has been cast

We’ve known about the YELLOW SUBMARINE remake for awhile now, but little else was known about the project. That is, until it was announced that Robert Zemeckis would be the director. With that news came word that he would be making it with 3D motion capture, in the vein of his last few films. Now the cast is in negotiations, and we know who they are!

You can see for yourself, after the jump!

Dean Lennox Kelly, Adam Campbell, Peter Serafinowicz, and Cary Elwes are set to play the legendary band in the remake. Kelly will be playing John Lennon, while Campbell will play Ringo Starr, Serafinowicz will play Paul McCartney, and Elwes will be George Harrison. Unnannounced, is who will play the Blue Meanies.

I love the Beatles, but I just don’t really think a YELLOW SUBMARINE remake is necessary. I think that the only way I could get interested in this project is if it is extremely different than the orginal conceptually. I just have a feeling that it will be too similar to the original. If it is going to be so simlar, I’d rather just see a HD remastering and a Blu-ray release. Obviously, I’ll see it regardless (darn Beatles obsession).

What do you guys think? Do you think that a YELLOW SUBMARINE remake is warranted or unnecessary? Do you think Zemeckis should better his time and finally make ROGER RABBIT 2, BACK TO THE FUTURE 4, or CAST AWAY 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALO?
