Needless to say, STAR TREK was a huge hit among fans and an enormous financial success. It was very obvious after the movie so resonated with fans that a sequel would eventually come. Now we know just when we might expect it.
Zoe Saldana, who starred as Uhura in the recent STAR TREK film, let out a little tidbit while speaking with MTV about AVATAR.
“I spoke to J.J. and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot, and they are still in the middle of building the script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and we’ll probably be going into pre-production around this time next year.”
There you have it! They will begin pre-production next winter, which means the film will most likely be released in 2012 to a legion of devoted fans.
I trust J. J. Abrams fully with the second STAR TREK film, he is such a talented director. I have been singing his praises since MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III, which I thought was by far the best of the series. I can’t wait to see what he does with STAR TREK 2.
