After INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS came out, everybody was talking about Christoph Waltz. It was almost unanimously agreed that he was the stand-out performance in a movie full of stand-out performances. It’s also been said that he is a shoo-in for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. But now we don’t need to worry about Waltz’s career beyond Oscar buzz, because he is lining up projects and isn’t going anywhere.
Waltz has signed on to David Cronenberg’s newest picture, THE TALKING CURE. It is the story of Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud as they create the world of psychoanalysis. Also rounding out the cast is Michael Fassbender (one of Waltz’s BASTERDS co-stars) and Keira Knightley.
I’m really excited for this movie, not only because of Waltz joining the cast, but also because Cronenberg is easily one of my favorite directors. With Cronenberg’s last two pictures, he has proved that he knows how to make an exciting drama (EASTERN PROMISES, I’m looking at you). I can’t wait till we start seeing more about this movie.
